

Polygonum aviculare
Wireweed is a low-growing, mat-forming broadleaf weed with wiry stems and small, narrow leaves. It spreads through seed dispersal and thrives in compacted soils. It competes with turfgrass for nutrients and space, particularly in high-traffic sports fields. Control involves aeration, improving soil structure, and applying post-emergent herbicides.
