Cyperus rotundus
Nutgrass, also known as purple nutsedge, is a persistent and invasive weed that spreads through underground tubers (nutlets). It is difficult to control as it regenerates from small root fragments. Nutgrass thrives in sandy or disturbed soils and is highly competitive in sports turf. Effective management includes post-emergent herbicides targeting sedges and improving soil conditions to discourage its growth.
