Soliva sessilis
Bindii, also known as “jo-jo” or “lawn prickles,” is a low-growing, mat-forming weed notorious for its sharp, spiny seed heads that cause discomfort when stepped on. It thrives in compacted, dry soils and spreads aggressively in lawns during warmer months. Bindii has finely divided leaves and produces small, yellow-green flowers. Control methods include selective broadleaf herbicides, aeration to reduce soil compaction, and regular lawn maintenance to prevent seed formation.
