Location: Oregon State University
Turf Type: Annual Bluegrass (poa annua) Putting Greens
Introduction
During the winter of 2017/18 Winter Fusarium (Microdochium nivale formerly Fusarium nivale) pressure was very high, with researchers reporting breakthroughs in several conventional fungicide treatments. Simplot treatments containing phosphite fertiliser programs showed considerable improvements in turf quality.
Treatments
Simplot Treatment: 19.1L/Ha DuraPhite 12 + 19.6Kg/Ha Extreme Green + 1.23L/Ha Ambient Plus applied every 14 days
Conventional Fungicide: 5.6L/Ha Tebuconazole+ Activator adjuvant (0.125% w/v) applied every 28 days
Untreated Control
Duraphite 12 | Extreme Green | Ambient Plus |
Results
The images below show the results of the treatments at the end of the 2017/18 winter.

Simplot Treatment | Conventional Fungicide | Untreated |
The Simplot Treatment consisting of DuraPhite 12 (19.1 L/ha) applied in combination with Extreme Green (19.6 kg/ha) and Ambient Plus (1.23 L/ha) every two weeks performed the best in the Winter Fusarium trial by promoting a healthy annual bluegrass putting green surface at OSU in 2017-2018.
Tebuconazole alone did not control Winter Fusarium at the 28-day rate.
