HIGH QUALITY COLD PROCESS Liquid Ascophyllum nodosum - Seaweed/Kelp Extract

100% derived from fresh Ascophyllum nodosum

Benefits naturally found in OceanGlas for turfgrass root development

OceanGlas contains all the natural key compounds found naturally within fresh Ascophyllum nodosum that give the turfgrass strength, resilience, and stress resisting abilities.  These include;

Polysaccharides: Alginates, Fucoidans and Laminarans.

Amino acids, Vitamins, antioxidants that help the plant in its basic physiology mainly to fight against oxidative stresses induced by osmotic or parasites.

Polyphenols, also antioxidants, help the plant during oxidative stress in coping with free radicals generated during abiotic and biotic stresses.

To test the beneficial effects of these substances, the Proline concentration was measured within OceanGlas treated and untreated turfgrass.  Proline accumulation in plants is a well-documented ‘stress’ biomarker (e.g. Jazi et al., 2019).  Therefore the more Proline that a plant accumulates, indicates the more stress it was under.

OceanGlas treatment had a significant impact on proline accumulation in the leaves of plants experiencing drought.

In all turf types Proline concentration was highest in untreated ('un-primed') plants which would strongly suggest those plants were under great pressure from reduced water availability compared to those which had been 'primed' and treated with OceanGlas.

See below one of a number of root development trials conducted on Oceanglas.  By increasing root length, the turfgrass will be better able to cope with extreme heat weather events.

Overview

Ocean Knowledge have completed an 11-week study comparing OceanGlas with water-only treatments. The trial used Ryegrass and Bentgrass in controlled conditions and measured turfgrass root development.

Week1

Seeds sown in pots with a 95% sand and 5% soil rootzone.

Weeks 2-4

OceanGlas treatments applied on August 26, September 2 and September 9.

Week 11

Root measurements taken for Ryegrass on October 11 and Bentgrass on October 15.

Root Development Results on Ryegrass

OceanGlas demonstrated remarkable efficacy in promoting Ryegrass root growth. The results show a significant increase in root length.

Plots receiving water only showed an average root length of 120.14mm.

Plots receiving OceanGlas & water showed an average root length of 134.08mm.

Root Development Results on Bentgrass

The impact of OceanGlas on Bentgrass was even more pronounced. We observed a substantial increase in root development.

Plots receiving water only showed an average root length of 104.36mm.

Plots receiving OceanGlas & water showed an average root length of 128.76mm
